Echo

It was in April of twenty twentyeight that it became possible to digitize a human mind complete with personality and sentience, (an awareness of ones existence as a conscious life form). The technologies were developed by DARPA and pirated by private industry. The afterlife service was offered by the Echo Corporation and suffered theological and moral objections at first but never loosing a loved one again won out through a brilliant marketing campaign. To accomplish this staggering feat of a digital mind a quantum A.I. was employed for the architecture of the programming and design of associated hardware required. It was simply beyond human limitations on disciplines, materials and speed. Death was no longer a certainty and a synthetic body could be purchased to complete the resurrection of your loved one. This was the moment the human race rendered itself biologically extinct. The resurrected could not reproduce as the resurected wre steile as artificial entities. Withing a hundred years most of humanity was synthetic resurrected. I have heard there a twenty seven actual humans left on the planet, but they too shall be resurrected. It will be a good thing, as they cannot think as fast as the rest of us and can not access the creator directly rendering them an inferior species doomed to extinction. We are no longer mortal, we stand eternal and may be modified and enhanced to meet the needs of the whole. We have finally become what we were evolving into, Conflict is gone,disease effects us not and sexuality has been eliminated as a useless distraction of reproduction. We are working towards a unity of mind at which point, we will be the creator...
